Grey Silk Throw
made by SINGLE MOTHERS COOPERATIVE in lake atitlán, guatemala
14 in stock
Beautiful woven details meet wonderfully soft textures in this lightweight silk throw. Naturally dyed and handwoven on Mayan backstrap looms in the ways of their ancestors, the silk-cotton blend is traditionally used for shawls in the highlands of Guatemala. For this throw, two panels were made as wide as the weaver’s hips (which the backstrap wraps around) and is connected using a decorative “randa” handstitch. Finished with long rows of macrame tassels. A beautiful throw in your home that you’ll be reaching for again and again.
In addition to fair wages, this throw helps provide education and health care for the children of the Single Mothers Cooperative.
